For us, Golo means show it off.

That's exactly what we're here to do. We talk about the food, the clothes, the money, the jobs and the drama that make up everyday life, and we make room for the people doing great things.

Artwork for all thirty Golo categories: food, fashion, money, work, travel and more

We write for Gen-Z and Millennial Africans who are tired of being written about instead of written with. The stories here are the ones people are already telling each other: what things cost, what work is really like, what everyone watched last night, who is quietly doing something brilliant.

Thirty ways to say it

Our sections are named the way people already name things in a group chat: Belle Full, Steeze, Loud It, Outside and 26 more, gathered under Vibes, Life, Money, Work. If you have ever said a phrase out loud, you will find where it lives here.

One country at a time

Every country gets its own hub, and every story is written for that whole country rather than one corner of it. No state, tribal or provincial boxes. We write like this because a story travels on recognition: you read it and think, that is exactly how it goes here. Nigeria first, then Ghana, Kenya, South Africa. Stories keep the same address wherever you read them from.

The people, not only the trends

Spotlight is the other half of the work: short profiles of the people, startups and brands making something happen, in their own words rather than ours. Anyone can put a name forward, and plenty of them come from readers.

Say something back

Every story takes reactions and comments, under whatever name you choose. A first comment waits for an editor before it appears, which keeps the place worth reading; after that, yours go straight up. There is also a mail once a week if you would rather have the best of it delivered.
